Today, we're going to take a look at what we have seen in the first 6 months of the year as compared to the same period last year here in Atlanta. First, the numbers:
- Home sales have increased by 8%, from 4,919 last year to 5,311.
- The inventory of available homes has jumped an incredible 25%, up about 4,000 since last year.
- At the same time, average home prices have jumped 11%, from $222,975 to $248,556.
What this all means is that there is a wide selection of homes available if you are looking to buy. On the flip side, if you are looking to sell, you have a lot of other sellers to compete with. However, while the numbers give a good idea of general trends in the area, prices are neighborhood specific.
